Delays in Mexico City Metro Caused by Train Inspection

Passengers of the Mexico City Metro report significant delays on Line 8, which, according to official reports, are caused by a train inspection. Users complain of overcrowded platforms and a lack of movement, while authorities ask for patience.

Delays in Mexico City Metro Caused by Train Inspection

The Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro of Mexico City again faced criticism from users after delays of up to 15 minutes and completely stopped trains were reported on Line 8. Through social media, passengers pointed out slow service, platform overcrowding, and trains that were not moving, especially at key stations such as Constitución de 1917, where an accumulation of trains with no way out was even reported.

Passengers report chaos and lack of movement Complaints were not long in coming. A passenger indicated that the journey between UAM-I and Iztapalapa was prolonged for over 17 minutes without the train moving normally. Some users also denounced the evacuation of trains and a lack of clear information from the operational staff.

Metro CDMX attributes delays to train inspection In response to the wave of complaints, the Metro CDMX stated that the situation is due to the inspection of a train on Line 8, which has caused the service to run slowly. “An inspection is being carried out on a train on Line 8, so the pace is slow; train circulation will soon be normalized,” the agency indicated in response to multiple users. It also asked passengers to follow the staff's instructions and allow the doors to close freely to speed up progress.

Users reported that, despite no extraordinary conditions such as rain, the trains remained stopped for several minutes. “15 minutes at Constitución and we can't leave,” wrote a user, while others pointed out that several trains are stopped at the same time, which has created dangerous overcrowding on the platforms. Excessive travel times between stations were also reported.
